Patrons Pack Olive Grove Premier Night

The restaurant officially opened for business in Bowie on Wednesday.

Dozens of family and friends of Olive Grove employees, as well as local public officials, dined at Olive Grove Restaurant & Lounge in Bowie Tuesday night during the new eatery's invite-only premier.

Guests were invited to choose from a limited menu that included some of the restaurant's most well know dishes, and were also treated to an open bar. The crab cake, fillet mignon, fresh broiled salmon, seafood fettuccine and chicken scallopini were all served Tuesday.

Restaurant owner Spyros Mamalis was in attendance Tuesday, making the rounds greeting guests and asking after service. Mamalis lives in Crownsville and has always liked the Bowie area. He said the Linthicum restaurant already caters to several venues in Bowie, so a opening a new restaurant in the city was a good fit.

Mamalis says the fresh ingredients and original recipes on the Olive Grove menu make the restaurant stand out.

"Everything we do is from scratch," Mamalis said. "We have a lot of unique dishes that other places don't have."

Olive Grove is located in Hilltop Plaza, at 6868 Racetrack Rd., in the building that originally housed the Outback. It was scheduled to open for business Wednesday.

Hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday.
