Burglary Suspects Lead Foot Chase Through South Bowie

Police pursued two men from the D section to the P section on Monday, resulting in the temporary lockdown of one elementary school.

Two men are facing criminal charges after being caught burglarizing a home and leading authorities on a foot pursuit through Bowie, according to a police report.

Police dispatch received a call around 12:30 p.m. Monday from the victim, who reported that she could hear two suspects in her home talking to each other. The 35-year-old woman locked herself in the bedroom of her home on Dalebrooke Drive and waited for police.

According to dispatcher, who was still on the phone with the victim, officers arrived at the home just as the suspects were trying to get into the bedroom where the woman had locked herself.

Police checked the outside of the home and found a window open in the back. One officer saw someone throw a pair of shoes out of the window. Police told the suspect to “get down” and the suspect then fled on foot.

Police gave chase for approximately 10 minutes before the suspect was caught, according to police. A second suspect was found a short time later by a Prince George’s County Police Department K9 Unit, hiding under someone’s deck.

The first suspect—Marquet Tyree, 18, of Temple Hills—is facing multiple charges including burglary, attempted burglary, resisting arrest, and attempted theft.

The second suspect—Brandon Crawford, 19, of the District of Columbia—is also facing several charges, including burglary, attempted burglary, resisting arrest, and attempted theft.

The foot chase, which extended from the D Section all the way into the P Section in South Bowie, resulted in the temporary lockdown of Pointer Ridge Elementary Monday afternoon. Police said the children were not in immediate danger and that the lockdown was a precautionary measure.
