Bowie Man Killed in Fiery Crash

Douglas Andrew Halloran, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene of a one-car collision in Crownsville Monday.

A Bowie man was killed Monday in a one-car crashed on Defense Highway in Crownsville, according to a release issued by the Anne Arundel County Police Department.

According to the police report, Douglas Andrew Halloran, 27, of the 12000 block of Chelton Lane in Bowie, was driving east on Defense Highway at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his car and crashed into a utility pole on the driver's side of the vehicle. The crash occurred early Monday morning, just before 4 a.m.

When police arrived at the scene, they found Halloran's vehicle engulfed in flames, with Halloran still in inside. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was in the vehicle at the time of the crash, and no other injuries were reported in connection with the incident.

Police say that speed was a contributing factor of the crash, and alcohol use is unknown at this time. The incident is still under investigation.

The crash closed Defense Highway for eight hours on Monday, and caused a power outage in the area, Patch reported
