Boy Critical After Struck by Car

Original story, 9:45 p.m., June 14:  A child is in critical condition after being struck by a car just outside of Bowie Sunday evening, according to police and fire officials.

The boy, estimated to be 10-years-old, was riding his bike in the 12800 block of Woodmore North Boulevard in Woodmore when he was struck. When police arrived at the scene, the boy was lying in the roadway in critical condition, according Police Officer First Class Harry Bond, a spokesperson for the Prince George's County Police Department.

The boy was flown via helicopter to a nearby trauma center for treatment, Bond said.

The driver of the car remained at the scene of the collision and was not treated for injuries, Bond added.

The investigation is on-going, Bond said.
