I appreciate everyone's thoughts and comments. I did "do my homework" but I was still learning how things operate in AA County and I was perhaps naive based upon my previous experiences living in a planned community. Things are very different here. I have not intended any fear tactics, only my thoughts as to what I foresee happening down the line, but I am willing to entertain I could be wrong , only time will tell. Have a good week:-)

People looking for a safe neighborhood that offers a number of amenities often choose planned communities for where they want to live. Piney Orchard residents are not stupid so I imagine many of us know GORC Park belongs to the county. Home owners in Piney Orchard did not "create the problem" just as homeowners in the new developments (if they are built ) will not be the ones who "created" any problems that may occur. I grew up in another planned community and that influenced our home buying choice. I don't understand all the animosity against
PO homeowners. We have the right to protest against things that affect our community. We all have the right to our opinions and of course they ate highly affected by the expected outcome if the project to our personal lives. Would I be as upset about this if I lived in another part of Odenton or Gambrills? Probably not. I hope I would still see the possible cons for this project for our community as a whole. The fact is I do live near GORC and I am not an idiot- I know GORC is not part of Piney Orchard- but it does border it. And many people, other than PO residents use GORC. Despite "adding more land" , I stand by my assessment that putting a busy road through the park will degrade the park and it's surrounding homes, some of which are in PO and some are not. We all have choices, and I fear many families and govt workets will chose to live in others areas such as Howard County if we continue this way.

This development will take a park away. And, i live across from that park and it is used my MANY people- families, singles, pets and their owners, kids, etc. More than that, it is bit of break in a landscape of home and shops. Let the develop pick a different place to build. We don't need more homes, more people, we are already over developed and over populated. Destoying part of what peole buy into Piney Orchard for will lower the prices of the homes and will lead to a change in the socialeconomic dynmaic of the area. Long term, this project is a bad idea. We need to to keep our parks, we need to support communities like Piney Orchard that value health, fitness, families, and relative peace. Yes, we pay more for it, but its what we are willing to pay for and it helps the surrounding areas by drawing in more property taxes and more income to spend in local businesses. Disecting Piney Orchard will effect much more than PO.

I appreciate your comment. I often drive on Waugh Chapel during rush hour times and it can get busy but not unreasonably so, in my opinion. We are talking about a road that will cut into Piney Orchard so that is why it is of upmost importance to PO residents. If I wanted a house on a busy road my family would have moved to less expensive section in AA County. I think there is an assumption of protection from things like this when you buy a home in a planned community, that is one of the reasons homeowners are willing to pay more for their homes, pay fees, and pay higher taxes due to higher priced homes, then similarily sized and dates homes in the surrounding community.

Perhaps I missed this, what is the timeline here? I think intersecting Strawberry Lake will essentially make that section of PO not PO anymore. I live in that section and I would not want to live here anymore and pay all the fees we pay, including a high mortgage, if we do not have the relative calm that is afforded us now. And,I am guessing I am not alone.

I have mixed feelings. If Beniot is "close to Leopold" as one stated that is definently against his favor. Congrats to him, his wife and family on the new baby!

I do think it is often sexual harrasment as in such a highly charged, peer pressure induced type situation, "consensual choices" are very hard to make or even recognize. Dances should not be cancelled. As one earlier commenter stated, when the chaperones start shuting down the dance because of the inappropriate behavior, the message will get across. Yes, their are many sexually charged songs, TV shows, movies, etc. So, lets make a place that is SAFE for teens to have fun, dance if they want to, without fear of being part of or witnessing overly sexual acts.

Hmm. I'm not sure I can truly ever say for sure what I would do. I was able to give birth to two healthy baby boys. Both pregnancies were difficult and my 2nd son was born 5 wks early. Currently, I am unable to carry due to sciatica. If I didn't have my sons, we probally would have looked into adoption, maybe surrogacy- I don't know. I do know how it feels to want a baby and know you can't carry one- but not at all to the same extent of those who haven't been able to have any children. I feel very blessed to have my boys, despite the tough pregnancies and the sciatica.
