On the article UPDATE: Samuel Ogle Student Reports Abduction Attempt

So Bowie children are thieves-in-training who cannot be trusted with expensive electronics? Remind me to perform a full-body search when my kids get home to make sure they haven't five-fingered anything at school. That's just offensive. Why come on a Bowie website and disparage the community and its residents?

ReplyI was also wondering the same thing. She had to pay $110 for her old class ring? And the father of her baby apparently sold it? Classy guy! I guess since she technically gave it to him, it was his to sell?

ReplyCetrone's and TJ Elliott's are good. But for NY style pizza -- nothing compared to Happy Italian Delight! Like so many of us in Bowie, I grew up eating their food. It was the best!

ReplyHelmut makes a good point. My dad had his (private) college tuition all but paid after a summer job. I'd like to see a kid do that today. The cost of a college education has gone sky-high, turning many kids into so-called "debt slaves." I wouldn't mind my kids living with us after college and saving a little money while they start out. I actually think it is a responsible thing to do rather than rushing into a marriage or partying away in some seedy apartment. Plus, I like my kids. I hope they want to stick around. For a while anyway. :)

ReplyHi Andrew -- The robbery story was far from an afterthought, but we opted to give it more attention and that required doing more than a quick write-up as was the case with the DUI arrests. Had our editor not been without power, the story would have been posted shortly after it was filed. Thanks for reading.

ReplyThanks for your comment, Sharp Shooter. Yes, technically you are correct. However, I was referring to legalized slots as opposed to betting on thoroughbreds. But I probably could have articulated that more clearly. Thanks!

I'm with you. Makes me sad to see the lights off in so many homes, too. Growing up here, Bowie was like the Halloween in the movies. I remember we would run out of candy -- no matter how much we bought -- because so many kids were coming to our door. So much fun. I still love Bowie, don't get me wrong, but we don't have the sense of community we used to have here. Halloween is a secular event -- a fun time for kids to dress up, get candy, and be kids. I love seeing the little kids at the door and being able to give them treats. What could be wrong with about that?
