ReplyI had a "massive Injury" from a fall, and had experience with both PG and UMD Shock Trauma in the aftermath. While PG was a nightmare, UMD was a legendary godsend. I certainly hope these two law enforcement officers had the good fortune to be transported to Baltimore.

ReplyVery moving, and elegantly written. The defining crisis may vary. Mine was a marriage that fell apart. But getting to "it just is" takes time, courage, healing and an end to self recrimination, as Cheryl so eloquently said. This is particularly true for women, who tend to assume so much of the responsibility for anything that has gone awry. Cheryl, your choice of words tells me that you are at a good place in your journey. Thank you for sharing with others who may be looking to find your strength and resolve.

ReplyDo some homework in advance about animal personalities and characteristics. There is a lot of information about general temperaments online. CEO of The Washington Animal Rescue League, Dr. Gary Weitzman, suggests that you then bring family members to the site of any potential adoption. If the fit, and a match, seems to work, you can always generously offer to gift the adoption fee, not the animal. Most reputable rescue groups require a home check. So, prepare anyone involved for a process, that is clearly in the best interest of the animal and the family.

I didn't see this until after "National Picnic Day," but thought the advice was good nonetheless.
