Tonino's was open in that location for 25 years. For whatever reason it closed I think the people who ran it did a pretty good job getting noticed to stick around that long.

ReplyRegardless of the laws regarding possession, or what will happen to kids who smoke weed, or the reasoning behind the robbery, the simple fact is even the dumbest high school student should be smart enough to know better than to bring his stash to school. Nothing good can come from anyone having it with them there.

On the article Zirkin Files For 2014 Re-Election Bid

Last month everything was about his family. This month everything isn't so much about his family that he can't run for office again. Attacking me does nothing to refute that, but thanks for playing, Bobby.

Legally, I agree the only thing that matters is what he did that broke the law and that's what he should be punished for. However, he tried to use his position and/or associations to try to either receive favorable treatment or avoid penalty for his actions. That may not be illegal, but that's also not the type of person I want representing me on the county council. Hopefully his constituents will issue his non-legal penalty by removing him from office in the next election.

ReplyLooks like the grounds the house sat on could have used some maintenance. I can only imagine the condition of the building. Hoping for the best for the young man injured putting out the fire, and wishing the best to the family of the man who lost his life.

On the article Zirkin Considers Life Outside the Senate

You realize Zirkin, Morhaim, Cardin, and Stein are all part of the same "team," right? Zirkin is in the State Senate where the rules are a little different, but I assure you he does not go off the reservation for any reason without the explicit approval of leadership. See the '07 special session when he could have stopped the sales tax increase in committee and didn't and then had a crisis of conscience about voting for it on the floor when there was enough votes for it to not matter how he voted and then went all over the media talking about how bad the increase would be as an example.

ReplyWhat a martyr Zirkin is to sacrifice time with his family to serve the people. This is the same guy I've seen standing around Trader Joe's waiting to be recognized while his family stood around looking bored.

On the article Call Almond 'LT' (Maybe)

She ran with the full help and support of the local democratic "team" that includes all three of our state delegates and our state senator, so campaigning was a lot easier for her than for any of her opponents. I'm not saying Almond didn't work hard to be elected, but I'm willing to bet less than 10% of voters can name who she ran against in either the primary or general elections. She's certainly no independent voice who's beholden to no man (or woman).

If Tonino's is really moving to the former Memphis on Main St. I think it's a pretty bad idea to close the old location before the new one is ready and lay off all of the staff, but I'm not a restaurant guy so what do I know?
