Old Navy Closes in Bowie Town Center

The store has been "repositioned" to Waugh Chapel in Gambrills.

The Old Navy in Bowie Town Center closed its doors for good last month the day before a new store opened up in Waugh Chapel Towne Centre.  According to Julie Luker, a public relations manager for Old Navy, the store closed on Jan. 22 and was "repositioned" to the new location in Gambrills.  When asked if Old Navy would be opening a new store in Bowie in the near future, Luker indicated that there was no specific plan.  "We are constantly evaluating our store fleet to ensure we have the right stores in the right locations to best serve our customers," wrote Luker in an email. Police Warn of Traffic Tied to Wegmans Opening

Signs on Route 3 warn of a "major event" Sunday. The store will open at 7 a.m.

Area residents should expect heavy traffic Sunday when the new Wegmans store opens at the Waugh Chapel Towne Centre.  With Wegmans set to open at 7 a.m., Anne Arundel County police said they are working with store officials to mitigate traffic problems.  "With the grand opening festivities, we expect plenty of people and vehicles in and around the area of Waugh Chapel Village," police said in an email to the community. "You should plan accordingly for potential traffic disruption and delays." There are currently signs on Route 3 warning of a "major event" Sunday. Wednesday Movies Benefit 'Grants 4 Teachers'

Movies for just $2 shown on Sept. 12 at the new Gambrills theater will benefit the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County and its Grants 4 Teachers program.

The excitement is building for the Friday grand opening of the new movie theater in Gambrills and preview events allow residents to get a peek inside, catch a flick for just $2, and help local nonprofits. The theater is the latest opening following Bed, Bath & Beyond, Starbucks (with a drive-thru) and the Greene Turtle at Waugh Chapel Towne Centre. Football Fans Flock to Greene Turtle in Gambrills

The restaurant at Waugh Chapel Towne Centre opened on Sept. 4, the day before the 2012 NFL season began.

Spaces to park outside the Greene Turtle in Gambrills were hard to find on Sunday afternoon as football fans were forced to seek out parking behind the Panera and near the newly opened Bed Bath & Beyond. The restaurant reportedly opened on Sept. 4, the day before the New York Giants took on the Dallas Cowboys to kick off the NFL season. The patio was packed on Sunday afternoon. Bed Bath & Beyond Now Open in Gambrills

The store at Waugh Chapel Towne Centre is the latest business to open.

The newest business at Waugh Chapel Towne Centre is a 28,000-square-foot space filled with merchandise and furnishings for the bedroom, bath and beyond. As of Thursday, Bed Bath & Beyond is officially open with hours on Monday to Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The store's address is 2382 Brandermill Blvd. in Gambrills. Regal Cinemas To Host Pre-Opening Events

The grand opening of the new movie theater at Waugh Chapel Towne Centre in Gambrills is set for Sept. 14.

Finishing touches to the new movie theater in Gambrills are in process and staff is being hired by Regal Entertainment Group. The theater at Waugh Chapel Towne Centre is set for a grand opening on Sept. 14, but there will be opportunities to catch a flick before then. VIDEO: Target Seeks To Hire 220 for Waugh Chapel South

Hundreds turned out to the Bowie Comfort Inn to apply for jobs at the Target scheduled to open at Waugh Chapel South in Gambrills.

When Target team members open the doors to the Waugh Chapel South store, the staff is expected to be filled with dozens of local new hires. An ensemble of Target employees from around the Washington, DC, suburban communities filled the Comfort Inn Hotel & Conference Center in Bowie to interview applicants.  Although the new Target will technically sit in Gambrills, the store has been dubbed “Crofton Target” and “Target Crofton” by residents around the community and hiring manager Jean Caufriez. He said Target hired more than 50 people by Wednesday afternoon. They hope to bring on 220 employees for the new store. “We’re still looking for a lot of early morning stockers,” said Caufriez, who is looking for people who can help with morning …
