A line of thunderstorms is set to move through Prince George's County.
The National Weather Service is warning of heavy rains, strong winds, and possible hail Wedenesday afternoon as a line of thunderstorms moves through Prince George's County and surrounding areas. According to the NWS, a line of thunderstorms extending from Odenton to four miles southwest of Brandywine was moving north at 5 mph as of 3:45 p.m. The rain is expected to reduce visibility below one mile and may cause pooling of water on roadways. Hail in the penny- to nickel-size range is also possible, the NWS warned. Anne Arundel and Howard counties are also covered by the alert. Patch will have more information as it becomes available.

The National Weather Service reports that a brief tornado was documented during Tuesday's severe weather outburst.
A sprawling storm system kicked up rain, power outages, and 50 mph wind gusts Tuesday as it pushed through Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic region. Overall, Prince George's County appeared relatively unscathed by the severe weather, with minor wind-related damage reported across the area. But the day was marked by an escalating series of watches and alerts from the National Weather Service, including a tornado warning issued in the afternoon for the northern end of the county. The NWS reports that a brief tornado was documented east of the U.S. 50/I-495 interchange, but damage was said to be confined to uprooted trees and snapped limbs. The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch across Prince George's County and much of the state through 9 p.m. Friday. The alert comes as a line of thunderstorms is forecast to develop across the region over the afternoon and evening hours. Peak storm activity is expected in the Baltimore-Washington area between 7 p.m. and midnight, according to the NWS. "[The] thunderstorms will be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, large hail, and tornadoes," the service warns. Rainfall totals of 1" to 2" are also expected by the time the storms wind down, with locally higher amounts possible. The National Weather Service has issued a warning through 1 p.m. Friday
If the ominous clouds didn't tip you off, the National Weather Service is reporting a severe thunderstorm warning in Prince George's County around 1 p.m. Friday. According to their last update, the doppler radar shows a storm heading into the county that could produce quarter-sized hail and 60 mph winds. One or two inches of rain per hour could result due to the storm.
The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for parts of Prince George's County. The warning will remain in effect until 11:15 p.m. in the western central part of the county, including Hyattsville, College Park and Landover, according to the report. NWS has predicted very heavy rainfall of one or two inches per hour during the storm. They also warned that streams or creeks may flood.

With the severe thunderstorm in the area, there is a chance for flooding.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for Prince George's and Montgomery counties until 12:30 a.m. NWS said waterways connected to the Anacostia Watershed could be affected. The NWS is warning drivers about roadway conditions and said to avoid areas of the road with standing water, as it could be deeper than expected. In addition to the flooding, NWS warns of strong wind of 40 to 50 miles per hour gusts and thunder and lightning.
