What is the right age to reveal the truth about the jolly old elf?

Kids pose on his lap for photos, write letters will detailed gift requests and try to be on their best behavior to avoid the naughty list. The big guy in red is a hot topic of conversation for those who celebrate and have little ones, which begs the question, when do you reveal the truth about the Santa myth? Do you tell your precocious 7-year-old the truth because she's no longer buying it and you are tired of lying? Do you reveal the truth to your 10-year-old so he doesn't get teased by his friends for being the …

Once again, the Bowie Volunteer Fire Department (BVFD) will be driving St. Nick around on fire trucks to visit local boys and girls, and to collect donations of canned goods for the Bowie Interfaith Food Pantry. Last year, the BVFD collected over 1,000 cans of food and it is hoping to meet or exceed that goal again this year to help as many local families in need as possible this holiday season, according to its website. They're asking for support from all residents who are able to contribute. Bowie dives into the holiday season with a ceremonial Christmas tree lighting followed by caroling and a special guest visit from Santa Claus.
Bowie families gathered Sunday evening at Belair mansion on Tulip Grove Drive for the city’s ceremonial Christmas tree lighting. Mayor G. Frederick Robinson made opening remarks and introduced the “dean” of the city council, Dennis Brady, along with state Del. Geraldine Valentino-Smith and the rest of the city council. The group then sang holiday carols led by Bowie resident Nichelle Fullen. They sang until the guests of honor, Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus, arrived on a fire truck from Bowie Volunteer Fire Station No. 39.
