The Bowie middle schoolers beat opponents Samuel P. Massie 355-115.
Samuel Ogle Middle School students, parents and science lovers have something to cheer about this week, thanks to the school’s Science Bowl team. After entering the halftime of their quarter final match against Samuel P. Massie down 90-100, the team of Bowie middle schoolers came back in the second half to dominate their opponents and win the match 355-115, reported the Gazette. The Prince George's County Public School's Science Bowl is a televised science competition for students that is in its 27th year. Ogle Middle, who has never won a Science Bowl, takes on Kenmoor Middle in the semifinals on March 26, according to the Gazette. Read the full story here on the Gazette.

Benjamin Tasker and Whitehall Elementary are expecting more than 50 volunteers at their events.
Come Sunday morning, five Bowie schools will look a little cleaner and a little greener, thanks to a collaboration between Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) and Keep Prince George’s County Green. Benjamin Tasker Middle School, Northview Elementary School, Pointer Ridge Elementary School, Samuel Ogle Middle School and Whitehall Elementary School are five of the 60 PGCPS participating in the countywide Clean Up, Green up initiative, according to a press release. A total of 200 sites including the schools will participate in the event by taking parting in activities like clean-ups, landscaping and tree, bulb and shrub plantings as part of a shared commitment to keep the Prince George’s County beautiful, states the release. …

The student told school staff that a man in a red sports car tried repeatedly to get her to go into his vehicle, but police were unable to confirm her allegations.
UPDATE - According to Prince George’s County Police spokesperson Cpl. Maria McKinney, after police interviewed the the victim, they were unable to verify her allegations based on her statements to investigators. Police decided to close the case unfounded. School officials are reporting a possible abduction attempt Wednesday in Bowie. At approximately 8 a.m. this morning, a man in a red sports car attempted to abduct a Samuel Ogle Middle School student as she was walking to her bus stop, according to a letter from Principal Mark Covington issued to the parents Wednesday afternoon.
