Emeka Udeze, 38, has pleaded guilty to two counts of conspiring to commit wire fraud in two separate mortgage fraud schemes.
A Glenn Dale man pleaded guilty last week to conspiring to commit wire fraud in two mortgage fraud schemes that resulted in more than $2 million in losses to mortgage lenders, according to a statement released by the U.S. State’s Attorney’s office. Emeka Udeze, 38, was a licensed mortgage broker at the time of the crimes, according to his plea agreement. Udeze admitted that, “in both schemes, he submitted fraudulent mortgage loan applications for buyers, inflating the buyer’s income and creating bogus employment information in an effort to qualify these individuals for loans that they otherwise were unqualified to secure,” according to a press release. Jason Jamar Howard of Riverdale is accused of abusing a student at Glenn Dale Elementary.
Riverdale resident and Glenn Dale Elementary School employee Jason Jamar Howard, 30, has been arrested by Prince George’s County police (PGPD) and charged with sexually abusing a student at the school. Based on preliminary investigations—including notification from the victim’s parents—police believe that Howard sexually abused a child at Glenn Dale Elementary on April 17. Police said that during an interview, Howard admitted to abusing the child on multiple occasions during the current and previous school years. Howard was arrested and charged with sex abuse of a minor and other related counts. The Prince George's County Police are investigating the robbery of a Glenn Dale Subway.
Prince George's County Police are hoping someone can help them identify the suspects caught on tape robbing a Subway restaurant in Glenn Dale on April 11. The restaurant, located in the 4800 block of Glenn Dale Road, was robbed around 9 p.m. when the suspects reportedly walked into the business, pulled out guns and demanded money, a police press release stated. Detectives think the suspects fled the scene in a dark-colored sedan, PGPD reported. It took firefighters about 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze, according to officials.
Fire ripped through a Glenn Dale home Sunday afternoon, displacing the occupants and causing significant damage, according to Prince George’s County Fire Department (PGFD) spokesman Mark Brady. Firefighters arrived on the scene of the blaze in the 6900 block of Greenwood Drive at around 2 p.m. to find the first floor showing “heavy fire.” It took 40 firefighters/medics about 30 minutes to extinguish the flames, which extended through the attic before the fire was knocked down, Brady said. No injuries were reported and PGFD estimates damages at $150,000.

Police say alcohol was a contributing factor in Monday’s double fatal accident on Lanham-Severn Road in Glenn Dale and that the driver of one of the vehicles is facing multiple charges related to the crash. Ramon Anaya-Ascendo, 35, of no fixed address, is being charged with two counts of homicide by motor vehicle, two counts of driving a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, and two counts of vehicular manslaughter, according to the Prince George's County Police Department. The driver of the vehicle was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.
A woman drove her car through at home a the 10800 block of Maiden Drive in Glenn Dale Tuesday afternoon, according to Prince George’s County Fire Department (PGFD) Spokesperson Mark Brady. The car went completely into the brick exterior wall of the home. The driver was removed from the vehicle and transported to a nearby hospital, said Brady. Brady said PGPD cleared the scene and the car will remain in the home, to be safely removed by the insurance company. The cause of the accident is unknown at this time. No other injuries were reported. No one was inside the home at the time of the crash. Patch will have more information on this story as it becomes available.

A string of six armed robberies committed by the same two suspects occurred in Prince George's County this weekend.
Prince George’s County Police are investigating six armed, commercial robberies that took place last weekend; three of them were in the Bowie area. Police were able to collect surveillance photos and videos showing that all six crimes were committed by the same two suspects carrying semi-automatic handguns, wearing masks, and driving a newer model silver Charger that they have been parking to the side or the rear of the target locations, according to police. Prince George's County recognized the courage and valor of more than 50 of it's police officers, firefighters, medics, and other safety workers.
Glenn Dale firefighter and medic Alex Myers was among the more than 50 public safety workers honored by Prince George’s County last week for their valor and heroic efforts in 2011. Myers received a Gold Medal of Valor for his “personal risk, zeal and judgement” when he responded to a house fire during a snowstorm last January, reported the Gazette. According to Myers, when he arrived at the scene, he found firefighters preparing to rescue a woman trapped inside a two-story, single-family home that was fully engulfed in flames. Myers took a ladder to the rear of the home to procure an exit for the would-be rescuers, when he found the woman in a second-story bedroom. Fire in Glenn Dale cause $20,000 in damages.
Prince George's County firefighters responded to the scene of a fire on the 12900 block of Sutters Lane Sunday around 2 p.m. According to PGFD Spokesman Mark Brady, the fire was in an attached garage of a two-story home in the Glenn Dale neighborhood. Brady said there was about $20,000 in damages to the property. No one was injured and the fire is still under investigation.

One firefighter was reportedly injured but was in "good" condition when taken to the hospital, according to the county fire department.
An electrical fire destroyed a Glenn Dale house early Sunday morning, according to Prince George's County Fire Department (PGFD). The fire was reportedly "well-advanced" in the two-story home located in the 8000 block of Wingate Drive when firefighters arrived on the scene around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. The fire caused $300,000 in damages and took more than an hour to extinguish completely, according to PGFD. The County Citizen Services Unit will reportedly provide assistance to the home's occupants, who were not injured. PGFD said a female firefighter suffered a leg injury while battling the fire and was treated at a local hospital.
