Reports Shed Light on FDHS Sexting Incident

Video of consensual sex act between high school students may have been distributed online.

According to a report in The Washington Post, an incident involving sexual acts and "inappropriate use of technology" by students at Frederick Douglass High School was indeed a case of sexting, but no laws appear yet to have been broken. Citing anonymous sources, The Post reported over the weekend that the incident centered around a video recording of "a female student performing oral sex on a male student".  According to The Post, officials are still investigating if charges could be filed against whomever recorded the video or for those who may have subsequently distributed the clip to others.   A letter regarding the incident sent last week to parents of students enrolled at Frederick Douglass High School from Principal Rudolph Saunders…

County High School Diplomas Include Misspelling

The diplomas of all 8,000 Prince George's County Public School high schools' graduates contained a misspelling of the word "program."

Hot on the heels of the Scripps National Spelling Bee held last week in Oxon Hill comes an epic spelling gaffe out of Prince George’s County Public Schools.  The diplomas of 8,000 PGCPS high school seniors contain a blatant spelling error, misspelling the word “program” as “progam,” omitting the second “r.” Lynn Bryant’s daughter, Heather, graduated from Frederick Douglass High School in Upper Marlboro about two weeks ago. When called for comment, Frederick Douglass Principal …

Local Students Celebrate County History With Mural

Ring in the county's 317th birthday with a visit to the 12-piece mural created by local high school students.

Students from Bowie, Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr., and Frederick Douglass High schools were among those that contributed to a 12-piece mural in celebration of the founding of Prince George’s County, which happened 317 years ago this week, reported the Gazette. About 140 high school students from 12 Prince George's County high schools contributed to the mural, which is permanently on display in the Mall at Prince Georges. The mural is entitled “Gorgeous Prince George’s: Then and Now” in celebration of the county’s founding. Students worked on the mural from March 2011 and June 2011, reported the Gazette. The mural was installed in late October 2011 and unveiled last November. The High School Mural Program was made possible through a partnership …
