All the back-to-school information you need for Prince George's County Public Schools' students.
The first day for the county's public school students is Monday, Aug. 20. Don't panic. Whether you're new to Prince George's County or sending your child to grade school for the first time, the Prince George's County Public Schools' website offers information you need to know for the first day. School Registration: Parents who still need to register their child for school can find out which school their child should attend by searching by their home address. Bus Stop Location and Schedules: Call the PGCPS Transportation phone bank daily 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 301-952-6570. If your child was not registered for school by Aug. 10, they will not receive their schedule for transportation until Aug. 27, according to the site. Class schedules: …

The first day of school in Prince George's County is quickly approaching -- find out what you need to do to prepare.
As August approaches, parents, students and schools are gearing up for the first day back to school, which just happens to be almost exactly one month from now. Though it may seem like the summer couldn’t possibly be almost over, on Aug. 20, Prince George’s students will be heading to bus stops with backpacks filled with new notebooks – so it’s time to start preparing for the start of the school year. Parents should register students for school prior to Aug. 11. According to the county, students registered after this date will not have transportation to school, and students who are registered after Aug. 12 will not receive a school schedule until Aug. 26. Once students are registered, they will be able to access they’re schedules online…

Whether it instills dread or excitement, the phrase “back-to-school” is part of everyone’s vocabulary, especially as August approaches. For many parents, it may mean it’s time to start thinking about school supply shopping, stocking the fridge for lunches and enforcing the bed times you let go over the summer. For students, it probably means saying goodbye to the last of their summer freedoms and greeting stacks of homework and long days in a classroom. Teachers, new and old, may be busy preparing assignments and lectures and wondering what their classes will be like this year.
