Excessive Heat Watch Extended Through Saturday

Residents are advised to reschedule strenuous outdoor actives to early morning or early evening.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has extended the Excessive Heat Watch in Prince George’s County through Saturday, from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Local residents will likely see temperatures around 100 degrees on Saturday with heat index values up to 110 degrees expected. According to NWS, an Excessive Heat Watch indicates that a prolonged period of hot temperatures and high humidity will create a dangerous situation increasing the risk of heat-related illness. There is a risk of heat exhaustion or other heat-related illnesses for those without air-conditioning, or for anyone spending an excess of time outdoors is especially high. Temperatures in the upper 90s to 100 degrees, with heat index values up to 110 degrees are expected.
