Enter Patch's “Deck the House” Contest for a Chance to Win $100,000

  We’re launching our annual Deck the House Contest to find the most over-the-top holiday decorations in America—the best “decked” house in the country—the one home so spectacularly decorated that everyone in town jokes your holiday decorations could rival Rockefeller Center’s. Prince George’s County’s “Give Drugs a Bad Rap Contest” Deadline Nears

Saturday, July 8 is deadline to submit original music to PG Health Department contest.

  The Prince George’s County Health Department is running a “Give Drugs a Bad Rap” music contest in coordination with County Executive Rushern Baker, The Maryland Alcohol and Drug Abuse Administration, the Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention and 93.9 WKYS-FM. With a top prize of having your original song professionally recorded and debuted on stage during Russ Parr’s Splash Bash at Six Flags America on August 11, the PG Health Department wants you to help “Give Drugs a Bad Name” by creating an original music video telling the world why drugs and alcohol are not part of your life. To enter the contest, people age 13-24 need to follow five steps:   Prizes will be awarded to 39 entries:

Best Mom In Prince George's County: Terri Moore

We announce the winner of our 2012 Mother's Day contest.

To honor mothers around Prince George's County, Patch asked users to upload photos of their moms and leave a comment about what makes them so great. The heartfelt expressions of love and gratitude made it too hard to choose, so Patch randomly chose a winner. And the winner of our best mom contest is... drumroll, please... is Terri Moore, of Bowie. Moore's daughter, Cindy Freland said: My mom is the best in Prince George's County because she taught me to be strong, bold and independent. Because of her outlook on life and what she believes, I have been able to run a successful business for 15 years. She taught me that life is what you go after and not what you settle on.
