Cake Courtesan Reopens Storefront Wednesday

The shop will be offering free mini cupcakes and a chance to win $200 off a custom cake in celebration of the reopening.

After being open by appointment since Jan. 1, The Cake Courtesan will reopen its storefront on Wednesday, once again selling cupcakes and other treats to walk-in patrons. Head baker and cake designer Sharon White suffered severe tears to her meniscus that required knee surgery and necessitated closing the storefront and reducing workload for a period of time, according to business manager Stacie Cole. White’s doctor recently gave her the all clear and the sisters are celebrating the shop's grand reopening Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., offering free mini cupcakes to anyone who stops in, while supplies last. Custom Cake Boutique To Open Soon

Sharon White recently closed a cupcake shop in Annapolis to open The Cake Courtesan in Bowie.

Are you craving something sweet? The Cake Courtesan, a custom cake and confection boutique, is coming soon to Bowie Plaza and will be located at 6926 Laurel Bowie Rd. The shop hasn't set an official opening date because of the work still being done by contractors and inspectors but Sharon White, owner and head cake designer, told Patch she hopes to open for business in January. White opened Nostalgia Cupcakes on Main Street in downtown Annapolis in 2008 and closed it in 2011 to launch The Cake Courtesan in Bowie. The new shop will "focus on high-end designer wedding and event cakes, and 3-D structures as well as cupcakes and other artisan-style confections," according to a press release.
