[CRASH UPDATE]: Surratts Rd. Reopened 6 Hours After Fatal Crash

The crash forced the closure of Route 5 and Surratts Road on Thursday.

Update, 9 p.m.: Surratts Road was reopened nearly six hours after the road was shutdown Thursday afternoon after two cars were involved in a fatal car accident. Prince George's Police Office Kevin Bowden died from injuries sustained in the crash. Update, 6:30 p.m.: The officer involved in this serious accident has died. An update on this story is available. Update, 6:05 p.m.: Two southbound lanes of Branch Avenue have reopened, but the northbound side remains closed as officials continue to investigate the cause of the accident. Updated: Inner Loop of Beltway Closed After Water Main Break

The inner loop of the Capital Beltway is closed south of exit 15 after an early morning water main break.

7:18 a.m. - The beltway is expected to be closed for several hours as water is still flooding the inner loop. According to WUSA9, who broke the story this morning, reported that a spokesperson for the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission said the break occurred in a 54-inch water main around 4 a.m. She said she was unsure of the exact location of the break, but that their first priority is to shut down all valves and cut off flow onto the highway. NBC Washington had some raw video from the flooded highway, and TBD is reporting that the cause of the break was a car accident on Hampton Park Boulevard. City Takes Action Against West Bowie Village

A court order initiated by the City of Bowie has halted scheduled activities as investigation continues on West Bowie Village Hall.

A Prince George's County Circuit Court judge today issued a temporary injunction against the owners and operators of the West Bowie Village Hall, after a double shooting there Saturday morning. Judge Beverly J. Woodard's order forbids, "any commercial dance or other commercial event to which tickets are sold or admission charged to the general public" at the facility. The order remains in force until a hearing is held no later than Oct. 25 on the issue of whether the injunction should be made permanent or dissolved. The court action was initiated by the City of Bowie.
