'It was a sight that would catch anyone’s eye,' police wrote.
A man lugging a five-gallon water jug full of coins and bills dropped the jug as police approached but failed to elude officers and is now charged with housebreaking, according to Prince George's County Police. Authorities said an officer first spotted the man walking with the jug around 1 p.m. in the 1700 block of Countrywood Ct. in Landover. "It was a sight that would catch anyone’s eye," the PGPD wrote in a statement. When the officer approached the suspect—identified as Demetrius Jerome Coles, 19, of Capitol Heights—he allegedly dropped the jug and ran. Yohance Yaziz Norman, 31, was apprehended by Bowie Police yesterday and is being charged with four counts of burglary.
Bowie Police arrested a suspect in connection with the July 14 residential breaking and enterings on Riverwood Lane and Weywood Place. According to the police report, Yohance Yazid Norman, 31, was apprehended on June 21 under suspicion of theft from an auto. The suspect waived his miranda rights during the following police interview where he admitted to committing several nighttime break ins, including the two that occurred last week. Norman was arrested and is being charged with four counts of burglary. Police are still investigating his possible involvement in other breaking and entering cases. Two Bowie homes were broken into in the early morning hours of June 14.
Bowie residents reported two residential breaking and enterings last week in the early hours of June 14, according to police. The Bowie Police Department reports that the incidents occurred at two separate residences between 2:15 and 3:40 a.m. on the 4900 block of Riverton Lane and on the 3800 block of Weywood Place. The suspect is still at large. He reportedly had a flashlight and fled both residences after encountering the homeowners. One homeowner reported a piece of jewelry was missing, according to Bowie Police Chief John Nesky. Police recommend that residents take usual precautions, such as locking doors and turning on outdoor lights. If residents observe suspicious activity, they are advised to call 911 or 301-352-1200. Two men stole a woman in Bowie's TV and a man was arrested for having too much to drink on St. Patrick's Day.
At around 1 a.m. on March 18, Bowie Police were called to the 16000 block of Eckhart Road after a resident reported that somebody had broken into her house. The woman said she was in her bedroom asleep upstairs when she heard breaking glass downstairs. She went to see what was going on and saw two men taking her HDTV off its base and running out of the house with it. The Bowie Police canvassed the ‘E’ section and a Prince George’s County Police K-9 Unit also attempted to track the suspects. Nobody was injured in the incident. Later, at around 2:40 a.m., the Bowie Police received a call about an accident on Hall Road and Pin Oak Parkway. I really don't think it's just "bleeding hearts" who believe in the concept of "innocent until proven guilty." It's part of the due process afforded by the Constitution. Has nothing to do with political/moral ideals, as much as you may like to make that connection.   more ›
