Three suspects escaped the scene with an unknown amount of merchandise from the Bowie Macy's, according to Bowie police.
Three men allegedly drove a conversion van through the north entrance of the Macy’s in Bowie Town Center Friday morning and took an unknown amount of merchandise from the store, Bowie police said. After grabbing the merchandise, the suspects fled the scene in a 1997 Dodge Regency, which they later abandon on the 3400 block of Nottingham Lane, according to the police report. The glass door, door frame and security gate all sustained heavy damage, but no injuries were reported. This is the second incident of people driving a van through a storefront in Bowie Town Center this month. The women's accessory boutique hopes to draw new shoppers to the area.
Last week marked the grand opening of Charming Charlie in the Bowie Town Center, the second branch of the women’s accessory boutique to open in Prince George’s County. It’s clear from the moment you enter Charming Charlie that something is visually different about the store, which is filled with handbags, jewelry, scarves and other accessories. “We split things apart into what we call color vignettes,” said Kristin Fitzsimmons, the general store manager for the Bowie location. Many people buy the outfit and then need the matching accessories, said Fitzsimmons. The way things are broken up by color or pattern makes it easy for store associates to help customers find what they need, be it a blue scarf, a red belt or a leopard-print handbag. …

The store relocated to Gambrills, where it opened on Thursday.
Another storefront in the Bowie Town Center has been left empty with the official relocation of Bed Bath & Beyond to Gambrills. Although the store is still filled with merchandise, make no mistake--Bed Bath & Beyond in Bowie is closed for business. Patch learned last spring that the store was relocating about three miles north with no plans to open another store in Bowie. Workers will be packing up the remaining merchandise over the next several days and sending the goods over to the new store. Will you take your business three miles north to shop at Bed Bath & Beyond in Crofton, or will you find an alternative store for linens and home goods here in Bowie? What business would you like to see fill in recently vacated storefront?

Still vote for Anna's Linens or Container Store! There was a SNAP Fitness in the Collington Plaza Shopping Center that was there for probably a year, then left, so I don't think a gym will do well there. I belong to Sport Fit b/c I love going to the pool there during the summer, and have been going there for ~15 years. Would LOVE to see BB&B COME BACK!!!!   more ›
