Police recovered drug paraphernalia and suspected marijuana while executing a search warrant in Bowie Wednesday.
Two men were arrested Wednesday and are facing multiple drug charges after police found marijuana and drug paraphernalia in a home on Peachtree Lane while executing a search warrant. Bowie police, with the assistance of the Prince George’s County Police Emergency Services Team, performed a search of a home in the 1800 block of Peachtree Lane. Officers recovered six grams of suspected marijuana, drug packaging paraphernalia and electronic equipment, according to a police report. Two men were arrested and are facing charges as a result of the search warrant. Police pursued two men from the D section to the P section on Monday, resulting in the temporary lockdown of one elementary school.
Two men are facing criminal charges after being caught burglarizing a home and leading authorities on a foot pursuit through Bowie, according to a police report. Police dispatch received a call around 12:30 p.m. Monday from the victim, who reported that she could hear two suspects in her home talking to each other. The 35-year-old woman locked herself in the bedroom of her home on Dalebrooke Drive and waited for police. According to dispatcher, who was still on the phone with the victim, officers arrived at the home just as the suspects were trying to get into the bedroom where the woman had locked herself. Pointer Ridge Elementary School was placed on lockdown Monday afternoon as police chased a breaking-and-entering suspect through the P section, according to Bowie police. Police responded to a residential break-in in the D section Monday afternoon and found two suspects at the scene. According to Deputy Police Chief Dwayne Preston, officers were able to arrest one suspect while the second suspect fled on foot. The foot pursuit went all the way from D section and into the P section, where Pointer Ridge Elementary is located. Authorities decided to place the school on lockdown as a precautionary measure while police looked for the suspect, though students were not in any immediate danger, Preston said. A Bowie man is facing numerous charges after he allegedly led police on a high-speed chase through Bowie last week, crashed a stolen car, and then fled on foot before finally being located by officers in WalMart later that same day. Bowie police officers give this account of the incident: At around 5 a.m. on May 11, during a routine patrol, a Bowie police officer saw a green Buick LeSabre driving on the wrong side of Mitchellville Road near Harbor Way. The officer began following the car, which was described as “driving at a high rate of speed,” when the car sped through a steady red traffic signal at Mitchellville Road and Harbor Way. A Bowie man was charged with first degree assault last week after he attempted to stab another man with a sword-shaped letter opener, according to police. Just after 11 p.m. on May 6, Bowie police said they were notified that there was an armed person in the 1300 block of Peachwood Lane in Bowie. When officers arrived at the scene, they were told by witness that the suspect, Alexander Francis Rolley, 23, had arrived home from work earlier and gotten into an argument with the victim, a 43-year-old man who lives in the same home. The fight became physical, at which point Rolley ran into his room and came back out with what the victim describe as a sharp object, police said. Officers Kwok Kam and Melvin Proctor were sworn in as members of the Bowie Police Department at Monday's city council meeting.
Two experienced officers have recently joined the Bowie Police Department, bringing years of experience with larger police forces to their new positions. Recently retired Prince George's County police officer and Bowie resident, Ofc. Melvin Proctor, joins the Bowie Police Department after spending 20 years with PGPD. Ofc. Kwok Kam of Baltimore comes to Bowie from the Baltimore City Police Department, where he spent four years.

Two teens were robbed at gunpoint near Scarlet Oak Terrace and Annapolis Road in Bowie on Thursday afternoon, according to police. Bowie police arrived at the scene at around 3 p.m. on May 2 where they found two 15-year-old Bowie residents, a boy and a girl, who reported they been robbed at gunpoint. The victims told police that a man approached them, brandishing a semi-automatic handgun and demanding their belongings. The teens gave the robber an iPhone, a Samsung Galaxy smartphone and $15 in cash. The robber then escaped on a bike trail near the location of the robbery, according to police. Bowie police nabbed an armed robbery suspected on Thursday following a high-speed chase that spanned several miles and ended with a single-vehicle accident on eastbound Interstate 495, according to a police report. The police give this account: Just after 9 p.m. on May 2, a Bowie police officer was conducting a routine check at Pointer Ridge Plaza. Employees of the Pizza Hut flagged the officer down and told him they had just been robbed at gunpoint by a man wearing motorcycle helmet, grey sweatpants and a black jacket.
