What would you like to see in this former fitness center?
Once a Curves for Women gym, this now vacant space is Bowie Marketplace near the former Safeway is spacious to say the least. I've heard that the whole property here is up for sale, so the question may be a moot point. However, pie in the sky, what would you like to see fill this space? With a new LA Fitness going into Bowie Town Center this fall, another fitness facility does not seem necessary. Could this spot house a discount clothing store? A book store? A boutique? The 30,000 sqft. fitness facility is scheduled to open sometime in the fall.
Bowie residents will be able to shop and get in a workout all in the same place the fall, when LA Fitness opens up in Bowie Town Center this fall. The new 30,000 sqft. gym will open in the space that formerly housed Bed Bath & Beyond, which relocated three miles north to Crofton last year. The space has sat vacant for just over 8 months. “We look forward to bringing an LA Fitness to this part of Prince George County and to joining the other great tenants at Bowie Town Center,” Bill Horner, senior vice president/chief real estate Officer at LA Fitness, said in a statement. Mother’s Day is May 12 and besides the brunch reservations and jewelry, people will be scrambling to buy their No. 1 lady flowers. Jenny Scala, spokeswoman for the Alexandria-based Society of American Florists said Mother’s Day flower and plant sales are second to Christmas and just above Valentine’s Day, which is third on the list of busiest days for florists. “Mother’s Day counts for a fourth of all floral sales for holidays,” Scala said. The new clothing and accessory boutique opened it's doors in Bowie on Apri 13.
Looking for a trendy new top, shiny new bauble or stylish handbag? Francesca's Collections, a new clothing and acessory boutiuqe recently opened in Bowie Town Center may have just what you need. The 1,500 sqft. store carries everything from home goods to jewlery to handbags to clothing. You could feasibly walk in looking for a new hand towel and walk out with a new sundress. The store's hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays. Francesca's at the corner of Emerald Way and Town Center Boulevard, just across from the food court.
