Visions for Vacancies: Former Bed Bath & Beyond

What new retailer would you like to see in the Bowie Town Center?

The Bed Bath & Beyond at Bowie Town Center relocated to Gambrills in September, leaving a vacant storefront across from the Macy's.  Although many Bowie residents were sad to see the store go, it's relocation has opened up some prime real estate in Bowie Town Center.  Tell us: What would you like to see fill the former Bed Bath & Beyond storefront? Another home goods store, a new clothing retailer, a specialty shop? Leave your ideas in the comments!

Still vote for Anna's Linens or Container Store! There was a SNAP Fitness in the Collington Plaza Shopping Center that was there for probably a year, then left, so I don't think a gym will do well there. I belong to Sport Fit b/c I love going to the pool there during the summer, and have been going there for ~15 years. Would LOVE to see BB&B COME BACK!!!!   more ›

Bed Bath & Beyond Officially Closed in Bowie Town Center

The store relocated to Gambrills, where it opened on Thursday.

Another storefront in the Bowie Town Center has been left empty with the official relocation of Bed Bath & Beyond to Gambrills. Although the store is still filled with merchandise, make no mistake--Bed Bath & Beyond in Bowie is closed for business. Patch learned last spring that the store was relocating about three miles north with no plans to open another store in Bowie. Workers will be packing up the remaining merchandise over the next several days and sending the goods over to the new store.  Will you take your business three miles north to shop at Bed Bath & Beyond in Crofton, or will you find an alternative store for linens and home goods here in Bowie? What business would you like to see fill in recently vacated storefront?

Bed Bath & Beyond to Relocate to Crofton

After 10 years at the Bowie Town Center, Bed Bath & Beyond will relocate to the Waugh Chapel Towne Center this fall.

Bowie shoppers looking for Egyptian cotton sheets or the latest in kitchen gadgetry are going to have to head a few miles north to get their fix starting this fall. Bed Bath & Beyond, currently located in the Bowie Town Center, is relocating to a new building in the Village South at Waugh Chapel Towne Center in Crofton in a few months. The company has no plans to open another store in Bowie anytime soon. “We don't plan to have stores in both Crofton and Bowie as the new store location is part of our long-term plans to best serve the market,” Bed Bath & Beyond Marketing Assistant Danielle Sherman wrote in an email. Are you disappointed to see Bed Bath & Beyond head to Crofton? Will you travel the addition miles to shop there once they move …

You're delusional if you think they'll pass on savings to the customer. If anything, when they relocate to Crofton, they'll raise prices, period. It will be the same staff, the same merchandize, relatively similar store layout, but you'll be paying a premium to shop in Crofton, because people assume Crofton is better because it's AA county, when in fact it will be the exact same clerks and …   more ›
