The activists want city staff to fund a short-term, overnight shelter.
Members of Citizens for Local Animal Welfare (CLAW) spent Monday night at Bowie's city council meeting asking for the city to fund a short-term, overnight shelter for lost pets, according to The Gazette. The group raised $150,000 in pledges to help fund a building if the city pays for the staff. Currently Bowie Animal Control will take in lost pets, but they are transferred to the county's shelter in Upper Marlboro, if they need to be kept overnight. For more on this story, read The Gazette.
