This is real barbecue, certainly the best anywhere in the area. It's where I get my BBQ fix, with his wonderful pulled pork, light and dark together, and Memphis-style sauces, and really a mess of it--Anna and I can make a meal of one of his platters, which include cornbread and 2 sides. I love the broccoli salad--sweetened with a few raisins and bits of meat, and the smokey baked beans with some brisket thrown in--oh so good. Besides these sides, there are fries, coleslaw, potato salad, black bean and roasted corn salad, honest macaroni and cheese, and grilled veggies, too.
Don't forget the bread pudding--warm it up and it'll take you places you're sure to return to. Maybe you'll go for Carla's key lime pie--I just can't get past the bread pudding.
The ribs are great--a bounteous supply, so tender, but I confess my partiality for pulled pork. Anna likes the pulled turkey, and there's chicken, sausage, wings, and fish--it's all good, folks. Did I mention brisket? So tender and tasty. I know if you're from Baltimore then this is gonna be your place for beef, hon. I understand the Texans rave on this, too.
I just associate BBQ with Memphis; the rubs and the sauces--not a Carolina sauce, and I like the original the best. Framed blues albums on the wall. And for you Southerners, he's got real sweet tea. KBQ would be tops (it's better than Top's--or Corky's) in any locale--we are truly blessed to have this in Bowie. Man, I've made myself hungry--I gotta get me some barbecue!
