Bowie Volunteer Fire Department, Station 39
301-249-6525
Under the leadership of Deputy Chief James Turner, this station houses Bowie's only tanker apparatus, which serves as an on-the-go hydrant when water is unavailable in more rural areas.
The station always has at least two career firefighers on duty, who are often joined by the almost 30 active volunteer firefighers who sometimes work 24-hour shifts. Since it is near the edge of Prince George's County and Anne Arundel County, this station ends up going on calls in both counties fairly often.
