Special Recycling Pickup New Year's Day in Bowie
Yard was will not be picked up on Wednesday; the next yard waste pickup day is scheduled for Jan. 8.
Go ahead and put our your recycling New Year's Day, because even though Jan. 1 is a city-observed holiday, there will be a special pickup Wednesday in Bowie.
The Bowie City Council voted earlier this year to authorize the holiday pickup so that residents with Wednesday pickup schedule would not have to go two whole weeks without service. Recycling was not picked up on Dec. 25 because of the Christmas holiday.
Recycling should be put on the curb Wednesdays per usual, but there will be no yard waste pickup until Jan. 8, so those Christmas trees will have to be held for one more week, or taken to a county facility.
The rest of the City of Bowie government is closed on Wednesday, as is the Prince George's County government.
For those living outside of city limits, there will be no county trash or recycling pickup Wednesday, and all county landfill facilities will be closed. Refuse pickups will resume on the next scheduled day.
TheBus, Call-a-Bus and Senior Transportation services will not operate on Wednesday, and will resume regular routes and schedules on Thursday.
Prince George's County Public Libraries will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday in observance of New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
