Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities

If you're looking to volunteer this week, try these options.

Millions helped out on Make A Difference Day on Oct. 22 all over the country, but there are still needs in your community and nearby areas. For more information, check the Prince George's Volunteer Center or Volunteer Center for Anne Arundel County. Leave us a comment to let us know about other needs for volunteers.

Here a few upcoming volunteer opportunities to consider:


Are you 18 or older with a strong knowledge of the Divine 9 and experienced providing step instruction? If so, please consider being a volunteer with Step Up Ur Game, the annual step conference to be held at the Bowie Community Center. Volunteers will assist with instruction and performances during this conference. Dates needed included Nov. 4 and 5. Holiday Sharing Program_
Donors are needed for the Holiday Sharing Program to help a family or senior citizen in Anne Arundel County with food for Thanksgiving (or a dinner and toys for children on Christmas in December). Volunteers can purchase and personally deliver food or make a cash donation. To sign up or find out more details, call the Holiday Sharing Office at 410-269-4462.

Volunteer Center For Anne Arundel County FLEX Program
The FLEX program, in partnership with Books for International Goodwill (BIG), needs volunteers to prepare shipments of used books at 2000 Capital Dr. in Annapolis from noon to until 3 p.m. on Oct. 29. Junior League of Annapolis: Pigs & Pearls Fundraiser
The Junior League needs volunteers for a family friendly event at in Edgewater on Oct. 29 from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Contact Anne Murphy or Michelle Mehler by email at gala@jlannapolis.org or visit the Junior League of Annapolis website for more information.


Volunteers are needed to assist with "Forest Fright" at Watkins Regional Park in Upper Marlboro on Oct. 29. Volunteers hours for ages 13 and older will be from 1 to 6 p.m. and for ages 16 and older will be from 5 to 11:30 p.m. Come prepared wearing black clothing and to help set up the outdoor haunted trails, entertainment stages and other haunted venues.
