Traffic Alert: Work Continues at Rt. 301/Rt. 50 in Bowie

Drivers looking to go from northbound US 301 to eastbound and westbound US 50 and the ramp from westbound US 50 to southbound US 301 will have to follow a detours.

Local residents driving around Bowie should expect delays this weekend as repaving work continues at the Rt. 301/Rt. 50 interchange.

The ramps from northbound Rt. 301 to eastbound and westbound Rt. 50, and the ramp from westbound Rt. 50 to southbound Rt. 301 will be closed from Friday night starting at 9 p.m. into early Monday morning, as the highway workers perform pavement repairs. 

The State Highway Administration said the ramp will be closed beginning Friday night and will open back up no later than 5 a.m. Monday (August 12.)

The SHA said the road closure was necessary in order to allow the pavement to dry and cure. 

Drivers should follow signs for a detour and make a left onto Route 197 in order to access westbound US 50.

Motorists should take the northbound Rt. 301 should take the Belair Road exit and follow the signed detour route to access Rt. 50 in either direction.
