Traffic Alert: Rt.50/Rt.301 Interchange Resurfacing Continues in Bowie

Work on the Rt.50/Rt.301 resurfacing project is expected to continue for the next two weekends, weather permitting, according to SHA.

Local residents should expect some traffic delays this weekend as the Maryland State Highway Administration continues resurfacing the Rt. 50/ Rt. 301 interchange ramp in Bowie.

Weather permitting, starting at 9 p.m. Friday, SHA will close the ramp from westbound Rt. 50 to southbound Rt. 301, according to a press release. The ramp will be reopened to traffic no later than 5 a.m. on Monday to give the new concrete overlay sufficient time to dry.

Drivers on westbound Rt. 50 should drive past the Rt.50/Rt.301 interchange and follow the detour signs around the work to gain access southbound Rt. 301.

Work is expected on this interchange for at least the next two weekends, SHA said. SHA also expects the ramp to be closed the weekend of July 19.

SHA has been working on this resurfacing project for several weeks. The $1.8 million project involves applying “whitetopping,” a bonded concrete overlay, to the ramp.
