Ramp Closures at Rt. 50, Rt. 301 in Bowie this Weekend

This weekend's closures are part of a several weekend long repaving project.

Repaving work continues in Bowie on the Rt. 50 and Rt. 301 interchange ramps in Bowie, according to the Maryland State Highway Administration.

Both the ramp from westbound Rt. 50 to southbound Rt. 301, and the ramp from southbound Rt. 301 to eastbound Rt. 50 will be closed beginning at 9 p.m. Friday. The ramps should be open to traffic no later than 5 a.m. Monday.

People traveling in the area should expect delays and find alternate routes if possible.

SHA has been working on this resurfacing project for several weeks this summer. The $1.8 million project involves applying “whitetopping,” a bonded concrete overlay, to the ramp. Whitetopping is a sustainable overlay, and improves breaking and makes for a smoother ride, according to SHA.

More than 100,000 cars make use of the Rt.50/Rt. 301 interchange everyday, according to SHA.
