Ramp Closures at Rt. 50, Rt. 301 in Bowie Continue This Weekend

Motorists should use Rt. 197 as an alternate.

Weekend ramp closures on Rt. 301 and Rt. 50 in Bowie will continue this weekend as the Maryland State Highway Associate works to finish repaving its repaving project.

The ramp from northbound Rt. 301 to westbound Rt. 50, and the ramp from westbound Rt. 50 to southbound Rt. 301 will close at 9 p.m. Friday. They will be reopened by 5 a.m. Monday in time for rush hour traffic, according to SHA. Motorists should use Rt. 197 (Collington Road) as an alternate.

SHA has been working on this resurfacing project for several weeks this summer. The $1.8 million project involves applying “whitetopping,” a bonded concrete overlay, to the ramp. Whitetopping is a sustainable overlay, and improves breaking and makes for a smoother ride, according to SHA.

More than 100,000 cars make use of the Rt.50/Rt. 301 interchange everyday, according to SHA.
