Summer Teen Theatre Troupe Brings Laughs to Bowie

This summer theater troupe will produce their first comedy, opening on August 3.

Think the life of the stage is all fame, fortune and fun?

Well, according to Alan Haehnel’s comedy , the dramatic life should be avoided at all costs.

PGSTT’s first comedy in their 40 year history promises fun for the whole family with a cast full of characters who encounter various mishaps, including stage kisses, pink eye infections and even inciting World War III. The play opens on Aug. 3 at the .

Bowie native Nicole Balay plays several characters in the production. A veteran television commercial actress, 30 Reasons will be Balay's first on-stage acting experience.

“I like acting and I enjoy the class,” said 12-year-old Balay. “It’s a fun play we’re doing.”

This also has been a learning experience for Balay, who said she’s learned how important it is to enunciate when acting on stage.

“You have to enunciate more and talk slower in a play so people can understand easily what you are saying,” she said, “and the play is a comedy so if they don’t hear what you are saying they won’t understand the joke.”

All PGSTT’s performances of 30 Reasons Not To Be in a Play will take place at the in Bowie. Performances are on  with  Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and children under 12-years-old.
