Wild Pitch Gives Baysox 9-8 Win In 12th
Bowie rallies from early 6-1 deficit to win third straight, edging Erie in the 12th.
A game filled with offense ended thanks to a timely wild pitch. Ronnie Welty led off the bottom of the 12th with a triple and later scored on a Chance Ruffin wild pitch to give Bowie a come-from-behind 9-8 victory over Erie Friday night at Prince George's County Stadium.
Erie had jumped to an early 6-1 lead and knocked out Bowie starter Richard Zagone, who eventually gave up eight runs in 3 1/3 innings. But Baysox relievers Ryohei Tanaka, Pedro Viola and Brandon Cooney combined to limit the SeaWolves to no runs on just two hits in the final 8 2/3 innings.
That good pitching let the Bowie (4-4) offense rally and pull out the team's third straight victory.

Brandon Waring hit a three-run homer to get the comeback started. Jeff Fiorentino's two-run triple capped a four-run sixth inning that tied the score at 8.
That's where it stayed until Welty tripled off Ruffin to start the 12th. Caleb Joseph then walked, and Ruffin intentionally walked Pedro Florimon, Jr. With Billy Rowell up, Ruffin threw a wild pitch that let Welty score to end the 3-hour, 53-minute game and give Bowie the win.
