Widlansky's Pinch-Hit Homer in 11th Gives Bowie Win

Two-run shot extends winning streak to six with a 5-3 victory in final game of first half

Robbie Widlansky's pinch-hit, two-run homer in the top of the 11th inning gave Bowie a 5-3 victory over Altoona Monday in the final game before the Eastern League All-Star breakk.

The win completed a sweep of the four-game series in Altoona—the first time Bowie's done that on the road in almost four years—and extended the team's winning streak to six overall.

The Baysox now are 47-41 at the break and tied for second place in the Western Division. Bowie gets three days off before starting up again on Thursday at home.

Widlansky homered to left when he came on to bat for Brandon Waring in the 11th. That was the team's first pinch-hit homer this year.

Buck Britton's bases-loaded single scored two in the first, and another run came in on the play thanks to a Curve error for a quick 3-0 lead. But Altoona chipped away and tied it by the seventh, setting up the Widlansky homer.

Armando Gabino (1-1) got the win with two innings of scoreless relief, and Brandon Cooney earned his third save.
