Six-Run First Helps Baysox To Win

Bowie's big first inning and five Portland errors help Baysox to easy win.

A six-run top of the first inning removed most of the suspense from Friday's game in Portland as the Baysox rolled to a 7-3 victory.

Bowie (31-31) got four uneared runs thanks to Portland's fielding problems -- three of the five errors led to runs, giving the Baysox four unearned runs. Chorye Spoone (1-3) got the victory with 6 2/3 innings of solid pitching.

L.J. Hoes had a two-run double in the first. Bowie also got RBI doubles from Robbie Widlansky and Pedro Florimon plus RBI singles from Caleb Joseph and Billy Rowell for the early 6-0 lead.

An error midway through the top of the first also helped Bowie. Two more errors in the sixth paved the way for another Baysox run.
