Richmond Ends Bowie's Winning Streak Friday

Flying Squirrels top Baysox, 4-2, stop seven-game run.

Richmond ended the seven-game Baysox winning streak with a 4-2 victory at Prince George's Stadium.

Richmond starter Ryan Verdugo blanked Bowie (48-42) for seven innings, giving up only two hits and striking out nine. The Flying Squirrels got a key two-run homer from Wes Hodges in the eighth for a 3-0 lead before Bowie tried to rally.

Greg Miclat's RBI single in the eighth cut the lead to 3-1 before Richmond added a run in the ninth. Caleb Joseph's sacrifice fly made it 4-2 in the bottom half, but Bowie could do no more.

Zach Britton (0-1), recently sent down from the Orioles to work on his mechanics, gave up one run on two hits in three innings and took the loss. Rick Zagone pitched well in relief of Britton, giving up two runs -- both on the Hodges homer -- in five innings.
