Joseph's Home Run Gives Bowie 3-2 Marathon Victory

Solo shot in bottom of 18th inning gives Bowie win in longest game in club history.

Caleb Joseph hit a solo homer in the bottom of the 18th inning to give the Baysox a 3-2 victory over Richmond Saturday night at Prince George's Stadium—ending the longest game in team history

Joseph led off the 18th with a long shot over the left wall off David Quinowski (1-1) to end the game at 12:07 a.m. That gave Bowie (12-10) the one-run victory in a game that lasted 5 hours, 27 minutes.

The Baysox tied the game at 2 in the bottom of the ninth when Greg Miclat drove in a run on a groundout to send it into extra innings.

Tim Bascom (2-1) got the victory for a second straight night. He threw 3-2/3 innings of shutout relief. He struck out seven and shut down Richmond's batters throughout.

Bowie's bullpen dominated in relief in extra innings of the long game. Jose Diaz (one inning), Cole McCurry (4-1/3) and Bascom (3-2/3) combined to hold Richmond to no runs on just two hits in the nine extra innings while striking out 14.
