Hoes Gets First Homeruns with Baysox, Bowie Victorious

The Baysox won 6-2 over Harrisburg Tuesday.

Bowie native and Baysox designated hitter LJ Hoes hit two home runs on Tuesday, leading Bowie to a 6-2 win over Harrisburg, and bringing them back within half a game of first place.

It was Hoes first two home runs as a Baysox player in his 54th game with the team and he was the third player to hit multiple home runs in a game this season, along with Brandon Waring and Luke Scott.

“It just felt good; I put some good swings on the ball, I got some good pitches to handle and I was lucky enough to put some good swings on them,” Hoes said. “It’s just been a long time coming - there have been a lot of jokes from teammates, saying stop hitting all these singles, hit like a man and hit a home run.”

Left-hander Rick Zagone pitched nearly seven innings allowing only two tuns on three hits, striking out a season-high eight players in his fourth win of the season.

The Baysox wrap up the series with Harrisburg Wednesday at 11:05 a.m. at home and then will be on a five game road trip to New Britain.
