Owens Ski & Sport and the City of Bowie are cosponsoring this annual skateboarding competition to be held at Bowie Skate Park in Allen Pond Park. Sixty spaces are available for skaters interested in participating. There will be limited public skating and restricted competition warm-ups from 9-11 a.m.; the competition will begin at 11 a.m., with the final round ending at approximately 5 p.m. All skaters must wear a helmet with a secured chin strap while skating and possess a valid Bowie Skate Park I.D. Applicants can preregister at Owens Ski & Sport in Crofton (301-858-1962) or register on site beginning at 9 a.m., provided that spaces are still open.
Participants and spectators are encouraged to bring a lawn chair, sunscreen, and sunglasses since there is limited shade at the skate park. Attendees are asked not to bring pets.
