Bowie Wins Finale But Misses on Playoffs
Baysox edge Erie, 3-2, but Richmond's rain-shortened win gives Flying Squirrels playoff berth
Bowie won its season finale Monday afternoon, but it didn't matter.
Richmond won an odd rain-shortened game that clinched the Western Division's final playoff spot. The Baysox edged Erie, 3-2, in a game stopped in the ninth due to rain, but it didn't matter as Richmond finished one-half game ahead.
The Richmond game was unusual because the Flying Squirrels had taken a 2-1 lead over Altoona in the top of the eighth inning, but rain stopped the game at that point, and it couldn't be continued. The following rule was applied here, according to the Richmond web site.

Rule 4.12, (b), (4): Any suspended game not completed prior to the last scheduled game between the two teams during the championship season shall become a called game. If such game becomes a called game and has progressed far enough to become a regulation game, and one team is ahead, the team that is ahead shall be declared the winner.
That's why Richmond was declared the winner even though Altoona never got to bat in the eighth.

Bowie also wound up playing one game less than Richmond because of all the rain-outs that couldn't be made up.
Just a bad day all around for Bowie.
