Bowie Teen Nominated as McDonald's All-American

Camille Calhoun of Bowie is in running to play in the prestigious all-star basketball game.

Bowie resident Camille Calhoun, a senior and basketball standout at the Severn private Catholic school Archbishop Spalding, has been nominated as a McDonald's All-American.

Calhoun, who has committed to play at Virginia Commonwealth University, is one of 814 high schoolers nominated. The top 24 men and 24 women from that list will play in the McDonald's All-American Game in Chicago.

This season for Spalding, Calhoun has led the team to a unbeaten record, with the team winning every game by at least 10 points.

In a recent interview with ESPN, Calhoun said her favorite player is Alana Beard of the Los Angeles Sparks, and takes pride in her jumping and rebounding ability.

The final roster for the McDonald's All-American game will be announced Feb. 14.
