Bowie's Peters Appears in National Playoffs

DeMatha Catholic grad was a senior this season for Johns Hopkins.

The Division III Johns Hopkins University football team hosted its first-ever playoff game on Saturday.

And James Peters of Bowie was part of history for the Baltimore school.

The senior wide receiver had one catch for minus one yard for the Blue Jays, who were 10-0 in regular-season play.

But Hopkins lost, 23-12, at Homewood Field against St. John Fisher in the national playoffs.

Peters played in 11 games this season had 10 catches for 102 yards. His longest catch was for 23 yards.

"It was a humbling experience. Today, our offense didn't really do it," quarterback Hewett Tomlin of Hopkins told The Baltimore Sun. He threw five interceptions in the loss.

The Blue Jays had scored at least 27 points in their first 10 games and had tallied 37 points in all but three of its first 10 contests.

Salisbury win playoff game

The Salisbury University football team did win its Division III playoff game, downing Western New England, 62-24, at home on Saturday.

The Sea Gulls will now host Kean of New Jersey in the second round this coming Saturday.

Rodney Hill of Bowie is a junior linebacker for Salsibury. He went to Bowie High School.
