Bowie Native, Terps Defensive Back Honored

A.J. Hendy was recognized with conference and national honors following the Terps' win over West Virginia.

Bowie native and Maryland football player A.J. Hendy picked up two defensive honors this week.

Hendy, a junior defensive back, was named Atlantic Coast Conference defensive back of the week, the team announced Monday. Hendy recovered two fumbles and returned an interception 28 yards for a touchdown in the Terps' 27-0 rout over West Virginia on Saturday.

On Sunday, Hendy was named the Walter Camp national defensive player of the week.

Hendy's interception was his second—the first came in 2011 against North Carolina State and was also returned 32 yards for a touchdown.
