What the article fails to mention is the required 'bond fee' of $500+, bringing your first years fees to $1000+ - that's a lot of dough to go swimming during these tough times.

The pools mentioned as being operated by "the county" are M-NCPPC Department of Parks and Recreation pools. There are drop-in swims, swim teams, lessons, aquatic fitness classes, lifeguard training classes, birthday parties, etc. -- all at a reasonable cost. Also the PG County Sports and Learning Complex has a great indoor pool for families - and it's open year round! Same rates as all M-NCPPC pools. More info at www.pgsportsandlearn.com
