Bench Warmers No More: Donate Used Sports Gear at Baysox Game

Oriole Advocates will be collecting baseball equipment for children in developing countries.

If the days of little league and high school baseball are long gone, it may be time for those bats, mitts and helmets to find a new home.

The Oriole Advocates will be collecting new and used baseball equipment at Saturday’s Bowie Baysox game. Residents can drop off all baseball and softball equipment beginning at 6:35 p.m. when the Baysox take on the Richmond Flying Squirrels.

The collection is part of the Cardboard to Leather program, which sends new and used baseball gear to children in developing countries. The Oriole Advocates will accept bats, balls, gloves, uniforms, bags, and spikes. They are particularly looking for gloves, duffel bags and helmets, which are the most difficult items to obtain.
