Baysox Rally For Nightcap Win Over Trenton
Waring's two-run single gives Bowie 5-4 win after Baysox fall in opener of doubleheader.
Brandon Waring's two-run single in the fifth inning gave Bowie the lead, and the Baysox hung on for a 5-4 victory over Trenton to earn a split of their doubleheader Saturday night.
Waring finished the night with three RBI, but that two-run single helped Bowie bounce back from an early 3-0 deficit after it dropped the opener, 3-2. His single came in the fifth, and Bowie held on for the final two innings—there's just seven in minor-league doubleheaders—to win.
The victory moved Bowie (69-57) to within one game of Harrisburg for the Western Division lead. In addition, the Baysox have a 1 1/2-game lead over Richmond for the division's final playoff spot.
