According to Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com, relief pitcher Dan Klein, who was diagnosed with a SLAP tear in his shoulder last month, is progressing in his rehabilitation, but isn’t likely to pitch in any games until mid-late August, and could very well be done for the season.

Kubatko reports that Klein’s range of motion and arm strength has improved, but is still experiencing discomforting in the shoulder.

Prior to the injury, Klein, the Orioles’ third-round pick in 2010, was 3-0 with a 1.08 ERA in nine appearances for the Baysox after being promoted from Single-A Frederick, where he had been 0-1 with a 1.15 ERA. Between Frederick and Bowie, Klein had tallied 37 strikeouts while issuing just six walks in 32 1/3 innings of work.

VIOLA TRANSFERRED TO BOWIE, HUDSON PROMOTED TO NORFOLK

Left handed relief pitcher Pedro Viola, who had struggled in four appearances with the Orioles, has been optioned to the Baysox.

The 28-year old Viola had been 3-1 with a 2.25 ERA in 24 appearances for Bowie before being recalled by Baltimore July 1.

Outfielder Kyle Hudson, meanwhile, has been transferred to Triple-A Norfolk, his second stint with the Tides this season.

Prior to being promoted, Hudson, a fourth-round pick of the Orioles in 2008, had been 11-of-21 (.524) with four runs scored and six RBI in his last five starts for the Baysox, a span during which he had raised his batting average from .246 to .308.
