Baysox Beat Reading In Slugfest, 17-12

Bowie gets homers from three players and wins despite giving up 22 hits.

Bowie got homers from Xavier Avery, Joe Mahoney and Steve Lerud en route to a wild 17-12 victory Monday night at Prince George's Stadium.

Avery and Mahoney both got three-run homers while Lerud hit a two-run shot. Lerud and Avery finished with four RBI while Mahoney had three, for 11 of the team's 17 runs.

Mahoney and Lerud both homered in the seventh. In addition, Avery and Lerud got three hits. L.J. Hoes continued his recent hot streak by going 3-for-4 with two RBI.

The Baysox actually fell behind, 3-0, early and again 6-5 later on. But they turned things around with seven runs in the sixth and five in the seventh for a 17-6 lead. Reading made it interesting with six runs in the ninth and ended up with 22 hits.

Bowie improved to 41-40 with the victory.
